Dress suggestions for Family Portraits:
- Plan your outfits in advance.
- Start with one person’s outfit (Usually a Mom or Daughter) then fill in the rest.
- Coordinated colors, not matching outfits, are currently popular in family portraits. Pick two main colors then add softer tones to accent.
- This photo will hang on the wall in your home so consider your home décor when picking outfits
- Consider your setting, beach (neutral tones), spring & summer (bright green), fall (brilliant colors), winter (dry grass).
- Comfortable clothing INCLUDING SHOES.
- Limit distracting patterns and large logos that draw attention away from your face.
- Think timeless. Fashion come and go but your photos are forever.
- Say NO to formal clothing, sneakers/running shoes, tiny plaid or small stripes, extreme colors like neon or bright white (try off white instead).
Below are some color scheme suggestions:
- SPRING: white, tan and blue with mostly small print patterns, if any. white, blue, and peach. Pastel colors.
- SUMMER: Tan and White; Orange and Teal; Light Blue, Tan, White; Blue, Green, Yellow.
- FALL: warm colors blend with the yellow grass: Brown, Maroon, Denim, Yellow, Crimson, Navy, Tan, Cream.
